Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, March 30, 2009 – Syncsort Incorporated, the leader in high-performance sort and data manipulation software for mainframe environments, today announced two instructional classes for mainframe application programmers designed to help minimize application development time and significantly boost the efficiency of applications. These programs are part of Syncsort’s broader commitment to improving data center performance through both technology and education innovations.
- Getting the Most from SyncSort for z/OS is a three-hour training course for application programmers presented at the customer site. It explores such topics as SyncSort JOIN, record selection, record reformatting, data conversion, and report writing.
- SyncSort for z/OS Hands-On Training is a two-day training course given either at Syncsort headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, N.J. or at a site chosen by the customer. This class delves deeper into the topics addressed in the “Getting the Most” training and concentrates on both concepts and real-world implementation. Focused hands-on exercises after each lesson reinforce the concepts. Attendees graduate with the knowledge and expertise required to design, develop, test, debug, and deploy high performance applications using SyncSort for z/OS.
“As a result of the course, we were able to get a 2-hour job down to 20 minutes to fit in a critical window,” said Sheldon Lane, IT Training Coordinator at Verizon Wireless. “Everyone learned features they didn't know prior that saved time and improved output.”
Both classes, taught by Syncsort professionals with many years of development, support, and training experience, help cultivate best practices for application development. At the conclusion of these classes, attendees are able to easily utilize SyncSort’s dynamic features and capabilities to solve many of the complex business problems that formerly required an intricate home-grown programming solution.
