Syncsort is pleased to announce Syncsort MFX for z/OS 1.4 (MFX 1.4), the latest version of our high-performance mainframe sorting software designed to exploit the advanced facilities of the IBM z/OS operating system and IBM System z servers. This new release delivers superior performance and efficiency, as well as enhanced productivity – helping you to lower IT costs and achieve faster time to value.

• SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE & EFFICIENCY

Benchmarks have shown improvements of up to 20% in CPU time and 10% in elapsed time over MFX for z/OS 1.3 – and improvements of up to 50% in CPU time and 30% for elapsed time versus DFSORT.

• Increased zIIP Exploitation: MFX 1.4 extends System z Integrated Information Processor (zIIP) exploitation to include additional sort processing. Offloading sort processing to a zIIP lowers the billable CPU time associated with sorting. These savings reduce software licensing costs and delay costly upgrades.
• Enhanced MIDAW Capabilities: MFX 1.4 delivers additional CPU efficiencies by leveraging additional MIDAW capabilities.
• DB2 Multi Row Fetch: MFX 1.4 now supports the multiple-row fetch feature of DB2, automatically fetching 100 rows at a time.

MFX for z/OS 1.4 builds on Syncsort’s industry-leading ease-of-use with features that help organizations achieve a faster time to value, and leverage valuable IT staff time for more strategic initiatives. MFX for z/OS 1.4 includes many productivity enhancements, including:

• Creating and E-mailing Files in PDF, RTF or HTML Format: MFX 1.4 provides the ability to create an output file in a PDF, RTF or HTML format, which can then be e-mailed as an attachment to one or more recipients.
• Automatic Date Computations: Users will find additional usability enhancements with the ability to add or subtract units of days to or from an input record field date and create an output record date, as well as automatically compute the interval between two date values.
• Wildcard Searching: MFX 1.4 enables searching for a pattern constant within a field in a record.
